UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

In 2014, Edge of Arabia, in partnership with Art Jameel, launched a cross-cultural tour across the United States of America, with the aim to connect artists and inspire renewed collaboration across communities.

At the heart of this initiative is CULTURUNNERS, a new model for cultural exchange based on the potential of traveling artists to open up the public imagination and inspire greater empathy across physical and psychological borders around the world.

Edge of Arabia's US Tour & CULTURUNNERS has three main activities:

1. In September 2014 we launched a 3 year grassroots road trip across The United States in a 34ft Gulf Stream RV transformed into a mobile artist studio and broadcasting station. The Culturunners RV hosts a revolving group of artists, writers, curators and activists in search of a contemporary portrait of America through the eyes of travelling artists from the Middle East and beyond.

2. A series of collaborations with American and Middle Eastern organisations including Universities, Museums, Government and Private institutions as well as community centres and activist groups, allows for longer term connectivity and systemic impact.

3. And lastly a program to embed individual artists in foreign communities through residencies and travel opportunities inspires new perspectives.
