“The 100 Portrait Series” consists of 100 terrorists, with imagery sourced from online and news media. There’s something unsettling that happens in that split second when the viewer is trying to decide if they should have a positive or negative reaction to the work. It’s something you wouldn’t necessarily expect from old master portraits.

Razan Al Sarraf is a Kuwaiti-born visual artist based in New York. Through painting she covers the social, religious and political climate of the Middle East. She recently graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in New York, with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
Razan is the recipient of the Ministry of Higher Education of Kuwait Merit Scholarship and SVA Alumni Society Scholarship & Award. She has exhibited internationally, participating within solo and group shows in New York City, New Jersey and Kuwait.
