About mawadah muhtasib

Mawadah Muhtasib is from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and currently studies Motion Graphic Design at Dar Al Hekma Univiersity. Mawadah has been exploring a variety of mediums from an early age, including film, illustration, graffiti and painting in order to find her language of expression through art. In 2013, she created her own Calligraffiti typeface, which is a combination of Calligraffiti painting and mirrored Arabic characters that focuses on the beauty of the strokes and lines of the Arabic language and form.

Mawadah has exhibited her work internationally including in Jeddah, Kuala Lampur, and New York. She is part of the collection of King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture and she collaborated with the Office of H.H. The Crown Prince of Dubai for the creation of the longest graffiti scroll which achieved the Guinness World records in 2014.

ABOUT MARWAH ALMUGAIT

Marwah AlMugait is from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and has a BA in Business Administration from King Saud University, and attended the University of Westminster for her MA in Photojournalism in 2012. While developing her visual perspective, Marwah has dramatically shifted from the commercial approach in photography into a more conceptually layered body of work. Her photographs tend to be intimate portraits of stories, providing the audience a confidential glimpse into a private moment.

Marwah’s work focuses on exposition: shedding light on things that people overlook or discard. Her work encompasses a wide variety of themes but embodies the desire to explore the gap between different ways of communicating. Marwah’s work emphasizes the fluidity and turbulence. By drawing from a wide range of technologies and a heightened sense of awareness, she forces her audience to pay attention to the pauses in human interaction.

ABOUT NOUF SEMARI

Nouf Semari graduated with a BA in Business & Marketing from King Faisal University. She is a self-taught painter who weaves layered narratives within her works with an often playful tone.

Semari has been exhibiting her work since 2010 throughout the Gulf at galleries such as Ayyam in Dubai and Alriwaq in Bahrain. In 2014, she was the winner of Clyde & Co Community Art Project and in April 2017, she completed the Majlis Studio Residency program in New York, an initiative of King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, coordinated by CULTURUNNERS.
