Against the backdrop of the US Presidential election, renowned Palestinian artist, Khaled Jarrar and CULTURUNNERS embarked on a 2016 ‘Campaign Trail’ with a series of pop-up events in San Diego, Tijuana and along the US / Mexican Border.
A special event to launch Khaled Jarrar’s No Man’s Land project was held at Tijuana’s La Caja Galleria on 3 February 2016. Jarrar shared recent film and photography projects and connected with the local artists, activists and journalists exploring comparisons and common concerns between Tijuana and his home city of Ramallah, Palestine.
The event at La Caja Galleria also included an informal exhibition of artists from Saudi Arabia, Syria, South Africa and Palestine alongside photographs by CULTURUNNERS resident photographer, John Mireles. The exhibition featured prints, films and photography by Edge of Arabia artists including Ahmed Mater, Khaled Jarrar, Foundland, Abdulnasser Gharem, Shaweesh and Faisal Samra.
