Part of Misk Art Institute's US Tour

As part of a major US Cultural Tour, on the occasion of the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit toWashington D.C., Misk Art Institute presented a program of Saudi contemporary art, music and film at The Kennedy Center.

The aspirational values of the venue resonated with the spirit and mission of Misk Art Institute – expressing the potential of creativity and youth in a moment of dynamic change. Bringing together contemporary and traditional art from the kingdom, the exhibition expressed Saudi Arabia's rich heritage and grassroots energy.

The exhibition featured 33 Saudi artists from across the Kingdom with over 20 major works.

Al-Qatt Al-Assiri Murals

The exhibition featured an installation of two murals made by women artists from Saudi Arabia’s Southern region of Asir. The murals express a long relationship between people and their natural environment, showing complex scenes that narrate the stories of their family, culture, environment, rituals and agriculture.

In 2017, Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, was inscribed in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
