Heba Abed's work explores scotoma, or the 'blind spot', and its potential applications in her society, particularly within subjects that are often overlooked such as incorrect translations of Arabic or the substitution of symbols for Arabic phonemes that do not exist in European languages.
Abed was raised in Riyadh and is now based in Jeddah. She recently completed her Master's degree in Fine Arts at King Abdulaziz University. She was awarded first prize at the Fine Arts competition of Saudi Arabian Universities in the 3rd Scientific Research Conference, 2012. She currently works at NSA Abdul Lateef Jameel company as a production designer.
