Darvish Fakhr

1969 born in Tehran, Iran and lives and works in Brighton, UK.

Darvish Fakhr is an artist and a painter. He grew up in America but has been living and working in the UK for the past 20 years. Of American/ Iranian heritage, Fakhr trained at the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. In 2004 he won the BP Travel Award and used the opportunity to go to Iran and paint local people in Tehran and Isfahan.

Since then, he has been mainly interested in Iran as his subject and has been exhibiting in Tehran at the prestigious Aun Gallery.  In 2008 he was asked by NPG to paint the contemporary dancer Akram Khan to form part of their permanent exhibition. Fakhr is renowned in the field of Iranian portrait paintings.

Exhibitions include: 2014 "Palimpsest" Edge of Arabia (upcoming Sept 4-Oct 2), London 2013 "Farce" Aun Gallery, Tehran 2011 "Safar" Aun Gallery, Tehran 2008 Commissioned by Jerwood Gallery to paint Akram Khan.
